Due at the start of class Friday Feb 16. Use the two document "c5-data.pdf" to extract the thickness of each layer, the spacing between each layer, and the distance from the substrate's surface for poly1, poly2, and all metal layers. (the "stackup"). Compare your estimates with the numbers in the datasheet for the C5 process "C5-ONsemi.pdf". Hand in a drawing showing the dimensions (thickness, distance to substrate, layer separation) and your comments on the differences. Design an inverter chain which begins with a base sized inverter (Wp/Wn = 12/6 lambda) and drives a 50 pF load capacitor. Use the C5 process (lambda = 300nm). Drive the first inverter with a 0-5V waveform with 10ps rise and fall times. Both the number of stages and the sizes of each stage (besides the first) is up to you. --> The score for this part will be computed as 40 * (td_min) / (td_yours). Where td_min is the average delay (tpHL and tpLH) of the fastest solution, and td_yours is the average delay of your solution. +5 bonus points for an average delay faster than Prof. White's solution.
