1. Objective
Use the benchtop signal generator and oscilloscope to measure properties of transmission lines by sending pulses down cables.
2. Transmission line delay and reflection
Connections:

signal generator. (benchtop ones have 50 Ω output impedance but AD2 is ≈0 Ω

Tee junction
-
Scope ch1 to “left” side of transmission line

Scope ch2 to “right” side of transmission line
Generate a pulse / square wave at about 1 kHz.
Measure the time delay between rising edges between ch1 and ch2.

Draw a picture of what happens when the edge reaches the open end of the line,

then reflects back down the line towards the generator

then superimposes with the flat top of the initiating pulse.
