  • Small number of components (5-10).

  • Mostly through-hole parts for easy transfer from breadboard prototype.

  • Largest dimension ≤ 2 in / 5 cm

  • 100 mil header pins for power and test points

  • Order received back from fab by end of week 4/5

  • astable multivibrator blinky light circuit

  • '555 timer-based blinky

  • simple bare-minimum microcontroller board. MCU + programming needs + buton + LED.

  • CD4046 infrared transmitter + receiver PLL

The important part is to select something that you are interested in. This short course is focused on going from schematic to manufactured reality and is much less on getting to the schematic part.
