Bell Telephone Laboratories invented the discipline of systems engineering to deal with nation-wide *systems* of interconnected devices, processes, and people — long-distance telephone, video, and data.

Aero/space projects involve cross-discipline work and has a natural need for the concepts developed in S.E.
